With the CBX Honda achieved a landmark in motor cycle history.
The bike realized 105 break horse power, had a weight of 274 kilogram and was good for 225 kilometres per hour. The readers of the magazine MOTORRAD voted this remarkable piece as their motorcycle of the year. In its first year of commercial sale, a total of 1600 bikes were sold in Germany alone. The CBX 1000 had a retail price of 11.262 German Mark, for customers that preferred the Z1300, 12.228 German Mark had to be paid. The only bikes that were more expensive at the time of 1979 were the Münch-4 TTS-E, which cost around 26.000 German Mark and the 1100 MV Agusta for almost 30.000 German Mark.
